Malö 43
Malö Yachts 43, which in fact is 43 feet long, was introduced for the 2001 season. The fine sailing qualities, the strong construction, the exquisite interior with superior craftsmanship are some of the characteristics of the Malö 43. The hull of the Malö Yachts 43 is designed to offer her owners a very manoeuvrable boat under sail and power- not surprising when you consider her nicely balanced lines, maximised water line length and moderate beam whilst also ensuring excellent stability . The Malö Yachts 43 combines the latest in design technology with hundreds of hours of engineering time spent developing a yachts that can set sail comfortably for any ports of call anywhere in the world. The Malö Yachts 43 offers a layout with two sleeping cabins and twin heads/showers compartments as standard. A layout with three sleeping cabins will be available as an alternative option. As each owner is encouraged to personalise his/her boat in terms of the interior layout and fittings, no two boats are identical. Bearing in mind the basic shape and design of the hull, we can customise and modify any of our standard layouts. This level of individual boat building is only possible with a small, dedicated team of flexible craftsmen such as we have at Malö Yachts. Malö 47
The Malö 47 remains true to Malö Yachts heritage, and brings a host of new design features. Fredrik Forsgren who is the designer explains Malö Yachts' design philosophy. Malö's history dates right back to 1939 so developing a new model is to blend our past and our future. When we change the design of a Malö it is not for the sake of change, but to include a function we have developed. The driving force is to evolve our design and bring a new look but ensure that every feature delivers the optimum balance of style and function. Malö 47 feels like a yacht that will take you round the world in complete comfort and safety, due to the high quality components and materials we have chosen. Every aspect is solid and robust – made to withstand the challenges of long distance sailing. The deck and cockpit are planned to suit the long distance sailor. Every detail has been considered, down to the stanchions, pulpit and pushpit which are stronger and higher. We have also incorporated just the right number of grabrails in just the right places to move around safely on deck and below. Throughout the interior our ambition has been to bring together the lines of the design and styling with the function and the natural lighting. With larger portlights and hatches we maximise that natural light but also optimise the interior for the lower light of dusk and dawn and the dark of night. In accordance with our tradition we let the skills of our craftsmen shine through in the interior. Everything is hand built here at the yard. Malö 47 is a long distance yacht. She is incredibly stable and safe, sharing the same seakeeping qualities as the other boats in the Malo range. The fact that we join the deck and the hull before we start to work on the interior makes us quite unique among boatbuilders, this gives unsurpassed strength and a hull which doesn't creak and squeak in heavy seas. In a change from our current design, the Targa arch is angled slightly aft which gives extra volume under the sprayhood and means we can create an enclosed space for the watchkeeper when conditions are unpleasant. With a screen defroster and heater this means you can be warm and snug whilst sailing even at this time of year at our latitude. A safe, comfortable and exclusive long distance cruiser, is how we describe our new flagship, many new features, excellent use of natural light and improved sailing qualities come together to create the ultimate Malö, the 47 Classic. Malö 40
Rounder and longer with improved sailing qualities. The Malö 40 has an heiress. After a lengthy period of intensive work, Malö proudly presents a new model. The spadework has been done. A year of computer drawing, toying with ideas and decision-making is over and a new design is now on the drawing board. Chief Designer Leif Ängermark and Malö’s in-house designer Hans Leander are both relieved and pleased that the mission is completed. The Malö 39 is to be replaced by a new model and everyone involved are more than satisfied with the finished product. “It was a very tricky job,” says Hans.“ Not because we didn’t know what we wanted or the aim of the boat, that had been taken care of a long time before, the problem was in replacing a boat as good and popular as the Malö 39.” The Malö 39 has been a success since it was introduced around ten years ago. More than 90 boats left Kungsviken , quite a lot for a shipyard the size of Malö. So why is it being replaced ? “Moulds and production tools wear out and it was time to change them so we thought it would be a good idea to improve the model at the same time. We wanted to develop the sailing characteristics of this quality boat even further. The new boat would be made quicker without changing the shape of the hull, which travels smoothly through the water.” The boat has a slightly sharper bow for faster cruising and a wider stern to facilitate a heavier load. Generally speaking, most things have been enlarged: “We have increased the waterline by around 60 centimetres and we’ve made the shape a little rounder and smoother. The design has always been heading in that direction ever since the early models “ says Hans, and continues: “ The greater stability of the boat has enabled us to increase the sail area by about two square meters.” One of the most important elements of the work has been in retaining the unique Malö characteristics of quality and safety. Production will begin in October 2004, hopefully in time for the Düsseldorf Boat Show in January 2005. On summarising the project, Hans says it was with a mixture of trepidation and delight that he and the others took onboard the project: “It didn’t make the work any easier when the boat owners themselves couldn’t think of anything we should change, but we’ve managed to steer clear of change for the sake of change. We’ve designed the boat with due consideration taken to improving details. Not all plain sailing, but with the finished Malö 40 in front of us we can safely say we´ve done an excellent job,” he concludes.

Malö 37
Malö 37 equals tradition and evolution packaged in a nice neat package. “A thrilling boat, which meets our demands on comfort, stability and the ease in handling” as quoted by Johan Hilmersson, Managing Director at Malö Yachts. Malö 37 is the successor of the very popular Malö 36 and offers amongst other improvements a further focus on sailing qualities. The key factor to further improved stability is its beam, which in turn enables larger sail area. This in combination with a longer waterline generates higher speed; in particular in light winds. Added length and width also enables improved standing height, larger berths and many easily accessible stowage areas. The design and construction is as is the case with the previous boats done by Ängermarks design team. The goal has been to develop a convenient, stabile, light and easy-handled boat. The Malö 37 will with it’s moderate draught easily manoeuvre in a narrow archipelago! The Malö 37 will be equipped with the traditional targa arch, timeless lines and an of course an aft cockpit. The ambition was “More of everything”, which can attract a wider segment but with the excellent QUALITY INTACT. A boat that enables “racing” as well as cruising! The New Malö will, as previously, be available with three different sterns; negative, negative with an integrated bathing platform and Classic. Interior-wise, the Malö 37 will produce a sense of space. Improved headroom, brighter cabin, larger cabin sole, wider berths, improved stowage capacity and more space at the navigational area. The Malö 37 is a boat that spells comfort! The first boat will be launched in June of 2006. After testing, calibrating and final adjustments, this first boat will be exhibited on our Open Yard on August 25-27th. But already on Boat 2006 in Düsseldorf it will be possible to get a feel for the boat through 3D pictures on the exterior and also interior. Please visit the sales staff for an impressive demonstration on how the boat will look!
